I'm surprised how little press this is getting. Why are we more concerned with Marie Kondo revealing her true colours as yet another influencer w/overpriced products to peddle? (OK, that's pretty depressing too.) Pls wake up, world. This is a very weird, terrifying, and potentially very important story—someone, maybe criminals, maybe the Chinese military, is messing with GPS around Shanghai in ways that we've never seen before: https://www.technologyreview.com/s/614689/ghost-ships-crop-circles-and-soft-gold-a-gps-mystery-in-shanghai/

Thread on Protests in Iran:
During its first 24 hours, it's already been the most violent protests in decades, if not ever. 1979 revolution did not reach this level of violence.
As Korea University students put up posters supporting Hong Kong protesters, Chinese students vandalized the posters. One of the phrases says, "The mother of the person who supports the protesters is a comfort woman."
Imagine being Chinese and making a comfort woman joke.
Just incredible. This siege is happening in a major university, at the heart of a financial hub. There is no sign the government has attempted anything to avoid getting to this point, officials remain completely absent. https://twitter.com/jamespomfret/status/1196186422404775936

Chinese troops appeared on streets of #HK today, claiming to be “volunteering” to clear up streets.
They are violating and ignoringthe Basic Law, as it is clearly stated that the PLA has no rights to provide service unless requested by the HK government.
This is VERY alarming.
More than 400 pages of internal Chinese documents detail the origins and growth of the indoctrination program in Xinjiang, where a million or more predominately Muslim minorities have been held in a vast network of detention centers https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2019/11/16/world/asia/china-xinjiang-documents.html
iBanker was arrested in Central 3 days ago. This video showed what happened before.
Police kept shouting "cockroaches" "garbage" at ppl, while ppl kept telling him to stay calm. The "cockroaches" from this crazy police mouth is record breaking.

There is an invisible chain of effect between #Xinjiang-#HongKong-#Taiwan. People in both #HK and Taiwan have been reacting quite heavily to stories of #Xinjiang’s re-education camps for over a year now, as they view the fate of Muslim minorities there as the ... https://twitter.com/zeynep/status/1194361687828242433
Totally uninformed guess, but I would expect a drop fo 25%-35% in overall health care costs if all prices were disclosed. As soon as you realize the doctor next door is 80% cheaper, so much lard is going to be driven out of this system
You mean, the health care "market" might actually get the single most important element of a functioning capitalist market, which is price discovery? https://twitter.com/StephArmour1/status/1195338821530980352
