Authors who sign their books at airports-
how do you get over the petrifying fear that the employee will kindly but firmly say, "I'm sorry ma'am, but that will mean we can't return them to the publisher, so I'd rather you not. But all the best to you."https://twitter.com/MikeIsaac/status/1173332478997590016
Charles Dickens’s beloved pet raven not only inspired the author but other great artists like Edgar Allen Poe. Lucinda Hawksley tells the story of the charismatic bird who can be now be seen (taxidermied) at the Free Library in Philadelphia. http://www.bbc.com/culture/story/20150820-the-mysterious-tale-of-charles-dickenss-raven
Hard to be rated for the lack of free PIN OF YOUR FACE rather than the content of a book you worked hard on. 😂 But overall I'm overjoyed by how kind everyone has been. Thank you deathlings.
The slightly more sinister aspect is that as authors, it's drilled into us how important Amazon reviews are. Even if people buy from local bookstores, they might check the Amazon or Goodreads rankings to see if folks liked the book.
On the one hand, I know my publisher did an amazing job at organizing the campaign, and the instructions were laid out clearly.
But no one wants to hear they're ruining a child's birthday 😬😬
Conflicted about this.
Our book pre-order campaign with small, independent bookstores across the country went so well.
But some folks thought pre-order meant everywhere they bought the book, including Amazon, and are now leaving reviews about what a dishonest person I am.
The point of this photo with @TheGoodDeath is that the nail in question is a portrait of her head.
I’m in D.C. today, AND it’s #FridayThe13th so it’s the perfect time to re-share this video that features several deathy superstitions, plus a special spectral feline who haunts the city.
