When we volunteer we create connections with others and foster a sense of purpose.
On this year’s International Volunteers Day, I thank all volunteers who make the world a more inclusive and tolerant place.
Ongoing conflicts and the climate crisis keep pushing higher the number of people in need.
Next year, the @UN aims to deliver lifesaving aid to 109 million of them.
But we need more support to do this.
We must address the climate emergency & ensure a just transition for people whose jobs & livelihoods are affected as we move from the grey to the green economy.
Successful negotiations at #COP25 and increased #ClimateAction ambition are of vital importance for everyone.
Mi profundo agradecimiento a Su Majestad el Rey Felipe VI de España y al pueblo español por dar una cálida bienvenida a todos los participantes de #COP25 y la impecable organización de la conferencia. https://twitter.com/casareal/status/1201824002609516547
The findings of @WMO’s latest report are clear: Extreme weather events are becoming more frequent & more deadly.

Securing the rights of all people with disabilities is essential to build an inclusive and sustainable future in which everyone can realize their potential.

We have to choose between the path of surrender - letting the climate emergency jeopardize everyone on this planet - or the path of hope, sustainable solutions & successful #ClimateAction.

In several regions of the world, coal power plants continue to be built in large numbers. Either we stop this addiction to coal or all our efforts to tackle the climate crisis will be doomed.
We need ambitious #ClimateAction now.

All our #ClimateAction efforts will be completely undermined without the full engagement of the big emitters.
We are still waiting for transformative movement from most G20 countries, which represent three-quarters of global emissions. #COP25
To address the climate emergency, we need a rapid & deep change in how we do business, how we generate power, how we build cities, how we move and how we feed the world.
If we don’t urgently change our way of life, we jeopardize life itself. #COP25
The human species has been at war with the planet.
Now the planet is fighting back.
Climate change has escalated into a global climate emergency.
But my message at #COP25 is not one of despair, but one of hope and successful #ClimateAction. http://bit.ly/2LdemeL
I expect a clear demonstration of increased #ClimateAction ambition & commitment out of #COP25. Leaders of all countries need to show accountability & responsibility. Anything less wold be a betrayal of our entire human family and all generations to come.
A record 38 million people live with HIV- but resources for the response declined by $1 billion last year.
On #WorldAIDSDay let’s reaffirm our commitment to ending this epidemic by 2030 - scaling up access to health services, fighting stigma & ensuring people enjoy their rights.
We stand at a critical juncture in our collective efforts to address the climate emergency.
Our war against nature must stop.
I have just arrived in Madrid to urge leaders at #COP25 to work together to boost #ClimateAction, and help drive the deep transition we urgently need.
1 in 3 people around the world do not have safe drinking water.
Access to water, sanitation and hygiene is a human right, and essential for achieving the #GlobalGoals.
As we strive to build a better future, we must ensure safe water for all. http://bit.ly/2VBGO0h
At next week's #COP25 Climate Conference in Madrid, we need to build on global #ClimateAction momentum and boost ambition even further to protect our planet and our future.
Climate change is running faster than we are. We must stop it.
Technology can be used against people, but it can be used by people for a good cause.

Thirty years ago, I watched with deep emotion the fall of the Berlin wall.
As I stopped to the Berlin Wall Memorial this week, I was reminded that while the division no longer exists here, physical and virtual walls to separate people continue to be built in too many places.
To truly bridge the digital divide, all sectors of society must be included.
I was very impressed by the @RediSchool in Berlin, where refugees and asylum seekers receive coding and tech classes, helping them integrate and have access to good jobs.
