Opening comments as part of the panel discussing 'The abrogation of Article 370 and what it means for Kashmiriyat' at @arth_live.
Our speakers @MPLadakh, @GowharGeelani, @sufimusafir, @ARanganathan72 and @vivekagnihotri in conversation with @Iyervval reflect upon "The abrogation of Article 370 and what it means to 'Kashmiriyat'" at Arth - A Culture Fest.
The Leftist media organisations garner corporate funding easily because the scared capitalists want to stay in the former's good books and away from criticism. The capitalists don't bother about RW media because they feel our views anyway match, says @TheJaggi at @arth_live.
With the wonderful @TheJaggi. Delicious Moong dhal halwa.
He tells me lunch is sponsored by ONGC.
Savarkar was made into a persona non grata; legends like Mangeshkar were vilified for singing his poems. This nation needs to know, that we got freedom principally because of Naval mutiny and not because we marched to make a handful of salt, thunders @vikramsampath at @arth_live.
The economy of ancient India was run through temples; they were the banks; they provided the venture capital - the reason why the most important ones were by the shore or in port cities; the ease of doing business was in their hands, says @sanjeevsanyal at @arth_live.
Looking forward to attending the wonderful @arth_live festival, as part of the audience as well as a panellist. Do come. Entry free. 21-23 February, JLN Stadium, Delhi.
The fools at @Twitter have set a really DISTURBING precedence. Now scientists will think twice about tweeting a link from reputed science sites like @biorxivpreprint, worried it might be termed "Harmfully Misleading".
@biorxivpreprint should ideally take this up with @twitter.
n/n The amusing thing is, the reputed science site from where I first read the pre-print & got the link & then tweeted it, STILL hasn't deleted its tweet. So much for @twitter identifying what is "Harmfully Misleading" or not.
Don't believe me? Here: https://twitter.com/biorxivpreprint/status/1223245639296978951
4/n In the end, even though many scientists told me not to, I deleted my tweet, giving reasons, and after having read a very good rebuttal to the preprint, that I also tweeted.
Do you have ANY IDEA, @twitter, that this is how science works? You get a big fat 'F' here.
3/n In fact, soon after I posted my tweet I also posted these tweets that @twitter IGNORES.
Aware that even though I'd tweeted a preprint from a reputed science site, I wanted a second opinion on whether in a fast-moving field, one should post preprints. How is that wrong?
2/n Funny to be in @BernieSanders' company but on a serious note the rank ignorance of @twitter is APPALLING. What I tweeted was an ms submitted to a reputed science pre-print site BioRxiV. I quoted the findings of the scientists & gave the link. How was I "Harmfully Misleading"?
This piece on Twitter's plan was just brought to my attention by @tweetingsourav. Whether platforms should possess editorial controls is a separate matter; this thread is on how BADLY @Twitter can get it wrong, esp when they don't follow up.

Just hearing that the woman who shouted "Pakistan Zindabad" at the Bengaluru anti-CAA rally has been arrested and charged with sedition.
This is wrong and unacceptable. I wouldn't do it, but is it a crime for an Indian to raise this slogan? Ridiculous.
I stand with Amulya.
Where I mention @Atheist_Krishna and quote his brilliant point: What if a BJP leader had said "Ab waqt aa gaya hai. Hum 100 crore un 15 crore pe bhari honge."
Krishna's observation was debated on @republic for the next 10 mins.
Fundamental rights & individual liberties are RELICS of the past. Courts are UNDERCUTTING intent of the Constitution by giving primacy to fundamental rights. - Nehru.

The Shaheen bagh mediation process has turned into a complete farce, especially after the involvement of Teesta Setalvad - the Magna Carta of lies and fraud.
