Difficult to really know what these small protests in Egypt mean, but the very fact of their existence in the face of the current climate of repression is not nothing. Nonetheless, the regime's greatest risk factor is not mass mobilization but internal regime splits.

Just passed through Tahrir Square. Many police in riot gear, as well as plainclothes officers and regular police, along with vehicles. Traffic backed up, cars honking. Small crowds of civilians looking on from the edges of the square.
