Horrendous. My daughter also has social anxiety and has had great support at her university. This included an ASD assessment, social and academic mentor. The assumption that people can overcome this degree of shyness ' if they just push themselves' is dangerous.

This is tragic. It does seem like University is probably not the right environment for someone with such severe issues.
Any statistics of teen suicide vs mobile social media?
I went to the same university 2008. They were very supportive to me. Unless something changed, don’t think we can blame the school. Other pressures could exist. Academia is tough and can be challenging. Students need to be warned. My condolences to the families. Sad to hear.
