On this inaugural celebration of #June12 as #DemocracyDay, we thank H.E @MBuhari for rewriting history in celebration of Freedom, Fairness, Equity and Social Justice.
Chief MKO Abiola lives on in our minds and hearts as a hero of Nigeria's democracy.
#OnThisDay, in 1994, in Epetedo, Lagos, late Chief M.K.O. Abiola declared himself president of Nigeria.
We met up with two men who witnessed and played key roles in the historic declaration.

Yoruba race was given a bottle of wine & asked to dance & celebrate the day their illustrious son was killed. Abiola was murdered, he should be mourned with candle light and not be celebrated. You dont celebrate agony ,anguish and heartbreak #June12 a day of sober reflection.
HAFSAT ABIOLA TO PRESIDENT BUHARI
"If anyone had told the Abiola Family that it is you who would do us this honour, we would never have believed it.
You honoured my dad despite the relationship that existed between you and him.
You touched my heart. #June12
Nigeria is a funny place.
We have a whole holiday to remember one man’s death and a canceled election.
But we have NOTHING to remember the death of millions of Nigerians who died in our civil war so that Nigeria can remain one?
Oh okay 🥴#June12 #Democracyday
Today marks 20 years of uninterrupted democracy, June 12 1993 is particularly sacrosanct as it is a day democracy was muzzled...
But not for long.
Today we are here to celebrate late MKO Abiola as the President Elect of the 1993 June 12 election that was annulled.
It’s a paradox that Southwest HATED Jonathan for his SINCERE efforts to immortalize Abiola but now LOVES Buhari for his INSINCERE honors for Abiola. And to think that Buhari was Abacha’s open ally and thus never cared about #June12 puts SW in easy contempt, especially by Buhari.
This goes out to everyone holding a position that is influential to the ruins and rise of some others, particularly the 9th leadership of the #NigerianSenate
Today we celebrate #June12 & its historical relevance to our being as a nation. Someday YOU will either be celebrated...
As we celebrate Democracy today, let us always remember that #June12 epitomizes the unbreakable will of the people in the face of tyranny.
I congratulate Ndi Imo and Nigerians once again on this day.
Shehu Yaradua paid the ultimate price for democracy
Atiku went on exile for democracy
shehu Sani was jailed for democracy.
Abiola paid the supreme price
What has Buhari done for democracy???

Happy #DemocracyDay Nigeria.
Thank you H.E @MBuhari for rewriting our history and bringing alive the words of our national anthem.
"The labour of our heroes past.
Shall never be in vain.
To serve with heart and might.
One nation bound in freedom, peace and unity".
#June12: That Humphrey Nwosu, who risked his life to give us June12 is NEVER mentioned in the reckoning of things is illustrative of the injustices that will soon unhinge Nigeria. You wouldn’t have an Abiola to honor if Nwosu had rigged-in Tofa; and Nwosu suffered for it.
Happy birthday to me. 💘🎂🍕
Thank God for another year.
RT and say something nice to me
Accepting gifts in all forms 🎊#JUNE12
