What John Landis did on the Twilight Zone set is also online. He broke child labor laws, lied to the parents about the pyrotechnics being used in the scene, ordered the helicopter to fly lower and said, "We may lose the helicopter." Max Landis is a chip off the old block.
I once sat next to John Landis and his family at the Cheesecake Factory in Irvine, CA. A teenage Max begged his dad to cut his steak for him. John begrudgingly got up from the table and did so. It was an odd scene that I never forgot and now I wish I never learned Max's name.
John Landis has been a real dilemma for lots of movie fans. On one hand he's made some legitimately great movies. On the other he literally killed three people and I don't care what that fucking jury said. https://twitter.com/AnnLaabs/status/1141008953796648960
Shitty to realize that if John Landis had gone to prison for killing those people on the set of THE TWILIGHT ZONE MOVIE - like he should have - Max Landis might never have been born.
In his 1990 'Playboy Interview' Eddie Murphy discussed everything from comedy to his personal agenda. The candid comedian even opened up about disdain for John Landis. Read more at the link:
Have you ever read the account of John Landis's murder of Vic Morrow and those two little kids? One of the best Hollywood books you will ever read.
To be fair, John Landis was just the director of his Twilight Zone segment. The real blame should be on the producer, who was...John Landis.
wonder if john landis ever threatened to get the helicopter out when max did something naughty as a kid
While we're cancelling Max Landis can we also cancel his dad, John Landis, who murdered three people (including two children) with his ego and negligence and didn't get punished at all? This whole family are fucking hellspawn. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twilight_Zone_accident
That time John Landis "thanked" the jury that acquitted him by inviting them to a sneak preview of Coming to America.
and Jennifer Jason Leigh, whose father Vic Morrow was murdered via criminal negligence on the set of John Landis's The Twilight Zone https://twitter.com/DPD_/status/1141013165435686918
If you can find a copy, read the book OUTRAGEOUS MISCONDUCT, about the TWILIGHT ZONE tragedy. I've read it twice and am convinced John Landis should have gone to jail for that. I don't know how he sleeps at night.
I always found it fascinating that after John Landis was acquitted, he made two movies that featured voluminous cameos from other directors including Don Siegel, David Cronenberg, and the Coen Brothers. Their appearances were clearly meant to signal solidarity.
John Landis is here and we love him
Someone mentioned this in passing on twitter, so I did a quick search. Here's what John Landis allegedly did at Vic Morrow's funeral.
I am not blaming John Landis for his son's crimes. I'm saying he was obviously a shitty father. https://twitter.com/oh_cynpai/status/1141000240327208962
No, Max Landis is the sex assaulter and emotional (possibly physical!) abuser. JOHN Landis is the murderer. He killed Jennifer Jason Leigh's dad.
Thinking about the time I learned about the John Landis helicopter story and was so sad and disgusted and also shocked that people weren’t *constantly* talking about how awful he is
John Landis:"I caused the death of 3 actors there is no way this can get worse"
Max Landis:"Hold my beer dad"
And I thought the Eddie Murphy Playboy interview made John Landis look bad
