Source inside the Times says the newsroom has been in “an absolute meltdown for the past week” over deputy Washington editor Jonathan Weisman’s tweets https://www.thedailybeast.com/new-york-times-editor-dean-baquet-trump-unity-headline-was-a-fcking-mess
I've heard the news, re: Weisman. He didn't lose his job and that's fine because I am not a cruel person. But it is also frustrating that a lot of his behavior will go unchecked. Will he truly understand what he did wrong here or will he chalk it up to the so-called Twitter mob?
Weisman Has Been Contrite would be a good name for a novel by @taffyakner.
“...the collective Weisman...”
This is amazing. Weisman wrote an entire ridiculous book smearing the GOP as a bunch of Nazis, but is demoted for offending Ilham Omar's fans. https://twitter.com/oliverdarcy/status/1161377534921117697
Agreed. What message does demoting Weisman really send? Also, will there be any bias training or education?
If not, NYT is simply leaving the bomb in the building without diffusing it. Those inside will still be blasted by his ignorance. Who deserves that?
Jonathan Weisman emailing @rgay, her assistant and her publisher like a weirdo asking for an apology was probably the icing on the cake for him. https://twitter.com/rgay/status/1159508325526056961?s=20

NYT says it is demoting Jonathan Weisman -- he will be an editor in DC, but no longer overseeing Congressional correspondents, and no longer active on social media. Weisman has been contrite. Story to follow.
Weisman’s mistake was that his tomfoolery on here didn’t generate any clicks for the NYT. His posts had no links, he just did it for pure love of the game https://twitter.com/marcatracy/status/1161375897951322113

Petition to make "the collective Weisman" a thing.
Baquet has made a series of bad decisions (by the Left’s standards) at NYT, but here he is throwing Weisman under the bus for a couple of innocuous tweets that drew the Left’s ire https://twitter.com/oliverdarcy/status/1161377534921117697?s=21
I mean “Weisman” does literally mean white man, so,
